September 2011

It’s been a very busy couple of months for Notts Supadogs and I am afraid I have neglected my page on the website somewhat.  To fill you in on a few things then….

We say goodbye to some of our members this month, firstly Amy and Gypsy who leave us to pursue another doggy pastime, Agility.  We understand that they are both doing well and compete regularly at shows. We wish them every success in their chosen persuit.
We also say goodbye and thank you to Helen with dogs Poppy and Ellie who leave us to join Sheffield Speeders Flyball club.  We hope you have a great time with them and look forward to racing against you in the ring sometime! We thank Helen for setting up the web site and maintaining it during her time with us.

Sarah takes over the role of web master and any future items for the website should be submitted to her.

We recently filmed a short film with the BBC East Midlands tonight. After three hours of filming it was finally edited down to just 2.5 minutes for a feature shown on the news program. The brave cameraman (who got himself right into the action!) did a great job of capturing the excitement of flyball, and even Bart got himself on the TV doing what he does best… Acting the clown! Thank you to all my team for taking time out to help with the filming. We had a huge response to the feature but unfortunatley we train just too far away for most of them to travel.

The bank holiday weekend was an eventful one for us with racing at Drax on the Sunday and a demo on the monday.  We had a great day racing and managed to take home a few rosettes with Notts O’Good coming 2nd and Supadogs 4th.
The demo was held at the huge Moorgreen show in Watnall, Notts. We had a 20 minute program planned out to perform 3 times during the day and have a go sessions in between. The demo’s went very well with the crowd really getting involved with the action cheering on their favourites! The have a go sessions were even more popular than we could anticipate and we ended up training 21 dogs the basics over the day!  No wonder I lost my voice!

The first weekend of September started with our own tournament on our new ground at Epworth.  We had some excellent feedback about the new venue and are looking forward to hosting more there next year.See our tournament page for more details about our show.

As the outdoor season winds down now we find ourselves with fewer competitions to enter and are concentrating on improving and maintaining the dogs’ fitness levels over the winter.  Keep an eye on the training page for information on dates/times of our winter training sessions.
